★ WOMAN’S HOUR

What started with a trip to Leeds in Spring 2011 for a few days to record a pair of songs with Richard Formby has ended with an AA limited vinyl 7” release through Dirty Bingo Records and a launch party to celebrate. The worldwide distribution on December 5th of tracks Jenni and Human will be followed by a night at Servant Jazz Quarters in Dalston where Woman’s Hour have hand picked the line-up and the venue, a fitting climax to the bands exciting year.

★ Dear Joseph

A beguiling sound that dabbles with a dark underbelly and a noir-ish edge Dear Joseph take their epic rock and roll and strip it right back for this special show. A captivating act the brothers will stand side by side on stage on personal request from Woman’s Hour.

★ DJ’s

Two bands of the moment cherry picked by Woman’s Hour will be bringing their record box along to Servant Jazz Quarters. La Shark and 2:54 ably represented and showcasing their eclectic taste until late.

Returning to Dirty Bingo, after their sell out debut show in May, Quadron play The CAMP on December 1st. The band sighted by none other than Jay Z release their next album in early 2012 this might be the best opportunity to witness this incredible live act before they blow up. Support comes from Bug and the one.

★ QUADRON

Quadron is a Denmark-based neo-soul duo, formed late July 2009, of Coco Malaika (vocals – aka COCO O.) & Robin Braun (music / production – aka Robin Hannibal) – both members of Boom Clap Bachelors. They released their début, Quadron, in 2010.

Previously Coco has sung backup for Danish soul artist Karen, and Robin has been collaborating with Nobody Beats The Beats, Clemens, Jokeren & L.O.C.. Also, Robin has worked on his own projects – Owusu & Hannibal & PARALLEL DANCE ENSEMBLE..

★ BUG

After releasing his debut single last year on Jus Like Music Records, gaining airplay from Gilles Peterson and Benji B along the way, London’s BUG is back with his Mechanical Soul EP. BUG, is a keyboard player, songwriter and producer. Under the moniker, BUG, he creates an experimental, instrumentally grounded style of music with a compositional approach. The BUG sound encompasses the finer elements of hip-hop and neo-soul, yet the real beauty is in the delivery. Think the smooth richness of the Dam-Funk vibe, the solid construction of a Dilla beat, the electronic wizardry of Flying Lotus and the soulful melodies of Lonnie Liston Smith’s jazz.

★ THE ONE

The One takes influence from Jam and Lewis’, Kleeer and the early eighties era plus other impresarios such as Skinny Puppy, Gus Gus, Larry Heard and Robert Owens. The music could be described experimental electronic soul.
